Preface This handbook wasitten to encoage and support the use of Fiber Optic Avion data bus systemcovered by MIL-STD-173 and demonstrate the versatility MIL-STD-1773 offers for system implementation. The handbook fills in details that are necessarily not allowed within the rigid confines of a MOL standard and provides guidance for the preparation of a system detail specification under the standard. Typical details include pertinent componenet types and their parameters@ advantages and drawbacks of different implementation approaches@ and comparison to electrical bus systems. Future editions will contain updated information based on changes and evolution within the fiber optics technology and 1773 applications experience.
