This Recommendation describes a reference model and methods for measuring energy in networks to reduce the operating expenditure (OPEX) of telecommunication network equipment. This Recommendation covers the following: requirements to measure energy consumption in networks; reference model and architecture to build an energy measurement framework; energy efficiency metrics of network elements based on a reference model; energy consumption measurement methods based on functional architecture.
