The requirements of this standard shall apply to all horizontal injection molding machines that melt plastic materials@ either thermoplastic or thermoset@ and rubber@ and that inject said material into a mold held closed by a horizontally acting clamp. The machine can be either straight mechanical action@ hydraulically actuated toggle@ direct hydraulic ram@ air ram@ or combinations of these types. Purpose. The purpose of this standard is to establish safety requirements with respect to the construction@ care@ and use of horizontal injection molding machines.
