The first report covers various aspects of developing flexibility factors for piping components. These include: definition of flexibility factor@ discussion of factors for certain components such as elbows and branch connections and the methods for developing flexibility factors from test data or elastic analysis. A suggested procedure for derivation of flexibility factors from test data is provided. This project was initiated by a request from the B31 Mechanical Design Technical Committee. The second report discusses the results of fatigue tests@ moment capacity (limit load) tests and burst tests of induction bends. International Piping Systems@ Ltd. sponsored this effort@ including performance of the tests. International Piping Systems@ Ltd. has developed a process for manufacturing pipe bends@ which is based on induction heating. This report discusses the results and methodologies used for experimentally developing stress intensification factors@ moment capacities and burst pressures. The results are compared to other data for elbows manufactured to ANSI B16.9 limits. The third report investigates aluminum/stainless steel transition joints manufactured by the Dynamic Materials Corporation who sponsored the study. In piping systems@ connecting aluminum pipe to stainless steel pipe can be achieved by the use of transition joints welded on one end to aluminum pipe and stainless steel pipe on the other. Fatigue tests@ resulting in stress intensification factors@ and burst tests were performed
