Introduction Up to now@ most people have tended to associate cybersecurity with computers@ smartphones@ stolen bank accounts@ the stock exchange@ and Kevin Mitnick. Cybersecurity is something that the layman might refer to as ??hacking?? and governments invest billions of dollars to prevent it. Indeed@ Forbes estimated that the U.S. government has spent more than $100 billion in cybersecurity in the past decade1 and has already allocated $14 billion for the year 2016. However@ there is much more to it than that. Cybersecurity within the automotive sector is something that was totally unheard of few years back. It was@ at least until the summer of 2015@ a timeline that brought a lot of sensational press headlines that called into question the competence of some of the elite automotive brands about their casual approach towards security.
