This specification covers casing@ tubing@ and tubing pup joints (hereafter called pup joints) and connectors in the sizes and wall thicknesses applicable to the various grade of pipe as shown in the standard lists (Tables 1.1. 1.2 and 1.3). and the dimensional tables (Tables 6.1 through 6.6)@ including other sizes and weights of Grade C-90 casing and tubing as agreed upon between purchaser and manufacturer. It also includes requirements for couplings and thread protectors. All requirements given herein for casing and tubing shall apply to pup joints and connectors except as otherwise specified. Connectors are defined as a tubular section used for the purpose of 1) joining or changing from one size. weight. or type of threaded connection to the same or another size. weight. or type of threaded connection or 2) other application. Dimensional requirements on threads and thread gages. stipulations on gaging practice. gage specifications and certification as well as instruments and methods for inspection of threads are given in API Std 58 and are applicable to products covered by this specification. Although this specification@ in conjunction with API Std 5B@ permits manufacturers?? authorized to use the API monogram* on round-thread casing to manufacture and apply the monogram to buttress and extreme-line casing@ considerable skill and know-how is required for the tooling for@ and machining of@ these connections. Therefore@ any manufacturer who desires to produce these connections is advised to consult with manufacturers who have produced these connections before attempting their manufacture.
