Satellite systems are one of the most effective ways to provide high-speed multimedia services. Use of higher frequency bands due to limited RF spectrum and the demand for high-speed services necessitates efficient countermeasure strategies for rain attenuation in the satellite link. This Recommendation presents an overview of these techniques@ briefly describing guidance for planning the utilization of fade countermeasure techniques in the fixed-satellite service (FSS).
