Guidance for deciding which fume constituents to analyze for is given by filler metal class in Table 1 of ANSI/AWS F1.3@ Evaluating Contaminants in the Welding Environment??A Sampling Strategy Guide. The analytical methods in this guide are also applicable@ with some modifications@ to bulk samples collected per ANSI/AWS F1.2@ Laboratory Method for Measuring Fume Generation Rates and Total Fume Emission of Welding and Allied Processes. For fume constituents not addressed in this guide@ current NIOSH methods are recommended.
