This guide is intended to provide practical information to be used in conjunction with technical information provided in the AWPA 2001 Book of Standards@1 ANSI 05.1-1992 (for wood poles)@ ANSI 05.2-1989 (for wood products such as structural glued laminated timber for utility structures)@ and ANSI 05.3-1989 (for wood products such as solid sawn wood crossarms and braces). These voluntary product standards are used worldwide and are modified as necessary by users for their specific needs. Purpose The purpose of this guide is to provide the design engineer with information on treatment of wood poles and crossarms for distribution and overhead transmission lines.
