It is the purpose of the Institute in adopting a recommended practice for gas measurement to simplify and@ insofar as possible@ to encourage standardization of gas-measurement practices. It is not the purpose to interfere in any way with existing business contracts@ but rather to influence the making of new contracts so they may be clearly interpreted and executed by an operating staff.
