ESDU 76032 gives graphs of stress at the weld plotted against endurance obtained from fatigue tests in bending on I-beams and under axial load for T-sections. The data were extracted from a number of sources in the literature and relate to beams built-up by welding steel plate. Data are presented and compared for automatic and manual continuous welds@ the influence of depth of penetration is shown@ and the reduction in strength due to intermittent welds or cope holes is also indicated.
