ATP-8 Volume I provides the doctrine necessary to execute amphibious operations and covers command and control@ planning@ types of amphibious operations@ support of amphibious operations@ logistics@ and riverine operations. ATP-8 Volume II describes amphibious tactics@ techniques and procedures@ and provides guidance for the execution of an amphibious operations and the ideal sequence of such an operation from its inception to its completion. ATP-8 Volume II Supplement 1 contains specific technical information about national amphibious assets and is a guide for interoperability. Purpose ATP-8 provides common doctrine@ tactics@ techniques and procedures for amphibious operations and is a reference for the amphibious warfare chapter of ATP-1 Volume I.
