- This guideline describes procedures for testing the performance of large coordinate measuring machines of various designs and makes. It applies to: - acceptance tests serving to verify compliance of the CMM and its probe with the manufacturer's specifications - reverification tests performed by the user for periodical checking of the CMM and its probe - interim checks performed by the user for monitoring the CMM and its probe in-between reverification tests. The guideline considers both hand-held and CNC-controlled coordinate measuring machines of single- as well as multi-arm designs, with or without probe, whose longest body diagonal is so large as not to allow at least 66% coverage by the material standards (gauge blocks and stepped gauge blocks) described in DIN EN ISO 10360-2. As a rule, this holds for CMMs whose longest axis exceeds two metres.
