Flexible intermediate bulk containers (FIBCs) according to this standard are intended to be re-usable. They are usually manufactured of plastic film or plastic fabric and can be provided with an inner liner of plastic film.
The properties of the bag material can be modified with the aid of suitable additives to improve resistance against, for example, decomposition by heat and sunlight and to reduce the effects of static electricity
The standard specifies the requirements for design type approval.
FIBCs may not be used for hazardous goods except they comply to the special requirements of all competent and relevant authorities.
