In the practical handling of flexible intermediate bulk containers (FIBC) where the FIBC is carried about as a suspended load it may be exposed to forces of up to 3 g. A method of testing the FIBC's characteristics is there-fore to subject it to a controlled dynamic stress of that size. The FIBC is allowed to fall freely from a predetermined height in a test rig. The test can be used for checking the condition of FIBC in some part of the distribution chain, see INSTA 511.
