This part of GB/T 1845 specifies the nomenclature system for polyethylene (PE) thermoplastic materials, which can be used as the basis for classification. Different types of polyethylene thermoplastic materials are distinguished by a classification system based on the values of the following specified characteristic properties and recommended uses and/or processing methods, important properties, additives, colorants, fillers and reinforcements: a ) density; b) melt mass flow rate. This section applies to polyethylene homopolymers and other copolymers with a mass fraction of 1-olefin monomers less than 50% and non-olefin monomers with functional groups not exceeding 3%. This section applies to materials that are conventionally in the form of powders, granules or crumbs, unmodified or modified by colorants, additives, fillers, etc. This section does not apply to masterbatch and EPM rubber. This section also does not apply to ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (PE-UHMW). Refer to GB/T 21461.1-2008 for the nomenclature and classification of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene. This section does not imply that materials with the same name must have the same properties. This section does not provide engineering data, performance data or processing condition data required to describe the special use and (or) processing method of the material. If necessary, these additional properties can be determined according to the test methods specified in Part 2 of GB/T 1845. Additional requirements may be given in character group 5 in order to specify a particular use of a polyethylene thermoplastic material or to ensure reproducibility of processing.
