This part of GB/T 17989 provides guidelines for the use of acceptance control charts and specifies general procedures for determining subgroup sample sizes, action limits and decision criteria. This section applies to the following situations: a) The variance within a subgroup is under control and the variance estimate is valid; b) A high level of process capability has been reached. Acceptance control charts are usually used when the process variable under study obeys a normal distribution, and it can also be applied in the case of a non-normal distribution. The examples in this section illustrate the advantages of this approach in different contexts and provide details for determining subgroup sample sizes, action limits, and decision criteria.
