Scope

This standard is a basic safety publication, mainly used by technical committees to prepare standards according to the principles specified in IECGu i de104 and ISO/IECGu i de51. This standard is not intended to be used as an independent standard. According to IECGuide104, technical committees need to use basic safety publications such as IEC61140 when drafting, revising or revising their publications. This standard applies to protection against electric shock for humans and domestic animals. Its purpose is to give the basic principles and requirements common to electrical installations, systems and equipment, or the coordination between them. Regarding the voltage or current value or type of current, this standard does not limit, while the frequency is required not to exceed 1000 Hz. Some clauses in this standard relate to low-voltage and high-voltage systems, installations and equipment. The rated voltage of low voltage in this standard shall not exceed AC 1000V or DC 1500V. The rated voltage of high voltage exceeds AC 1000V or DC 1500V. It should be pointed out that in order to effectively design and select protection measures, it is necessary to consider the possible voltage types and waveforms, namely AC or DC voltage, sinusoidal, transient, phase control, superimposed DC and the possible mixture of these waveforms. Devices or equipment that may affect the voltage waveform, such as converters or frequency converters. The current under normal and fault conditions depends on the above voltage.
