Scope: This standard applies to the protection of people and animals against electric shock. Its purpose is to give the basic principles and requirements common to electrical installations, systems and equipment, or the coordination between them. This standard does not limit the voltage of installations, systems and equipment. The requirements specified in this standard apply only to those requirements that are incorporated or referenced in related standards. This standard is not intended to be used as a stand-alone standard.
