Scope

This document specifies the construction and test requirements for intrinsically safe devices for explosive atmospheres and associated devices connected to intrinsically safe circuits for explosive atmospheres. The explosion-proof types specified in this document are applicable to electrical equipment whose circuit itself will not ignite the surrounding explosive atmosphere. This document is also applicable to electrical equipment or its components used in non-explosive environments or protected by another explosion-proof type listed in GB/T 3836.1-2021, as long as the intrinsic safety performance of circuits in explosive environments depends on the electrical equipment or The design and construction of its components. Circuits exposed to explosive atmospheres can use this document to assess their suitability for use in that environment. The requirements for intrinsically safe systems are specified in GB/T3836.18. This document is a supplement and modification to the general requirements of GB/T 3836.1-2021, except for the cases listed in Table 1. When there is a conflict between the requirements of this document and the requirements of GB/T 3836.1-2021, the requirements of this document take precedence. When the requirements of this document apply to both intrinsically safe devices and associated devices, the term "device" is used in this document. This document applies only to electrical equipment, so the term "equipment" used in this document generally refers to "electrical equipment". Associated devices placed in explosive environments should be protected by one of the explosion-proof types listed in GB/T3836.1-2021. At this time, the explosion-proof type requirements and relevant parts specified in GB/T3836.1-2021 are also applicable to associated devices.
