Scope

This standard specifies the representation of Gregorian calendar dates and times. It includes: calendar dates expressed in terms of years, months and days of months; sequential dates expressed in terms of years and days of years; dates expressed in terms of years, weeks and days; times of day based on a 24-hour time clock; The time difference between local time and Coordinated Universal Time (UTC); a combination of date and time; a period of time with a start and end point or only one or no start and end point.
