Scope
This International Standard defines six characteristics that describe software quality with minimal overlap. These characteristics serve as a baseline for further refinement and description of software quality. This International Standard describes how to use quality characteristics to evaluate software quality. The text of this International Standard does not specify subcharacteristics and metrics and methods for measurement, rating and assessment. This standard complies with the quality definition of GB/T 6583-92. Note: A suggestion for the definition of subcharacteristics is provided in Appendix A for reference. The characteristic definition of this standard and the relevant quality evaluation process model are applicable to the determination of software product quality requirements and the evaluation of software product quality in the software life cycle. These characteristics apply to various software, including computer programs and data in firmware. This International Standard is intended for use by those who acquire, develop, use, support, maintain, or audit software.
