This standard specifies the requirements for an environmental management system, enabling an organization to formulate environmental policies and objectives based on legal requirements and information on significant environmental impacts. It applies to those environmental factors that are within the control of the organization and over which the organization may be expected to exert influence. But it does not itself propose specific environmental performance (behavioral) guidelines. This International Standard is applicable to any organization wishing to: implement, maintain and improve an environmental management system; satisfy itself that it conforms to a stated environmental policy; demonstrate conformity to the outside world; seek certification/registration of its environmental management system by an external organization; Self-identification and self-declaration of compliance with this standard. All requirements in this standard are applicable to any environmental management system. The extent of its application depends on the organization's environmental policy, nature of activities, operating conditions and other factors. This standard does not provide suggestive guidance on how to use this specification in Appendix A. For any application of this standard, its scope shall be clearly defined. Note: For the convenience of use, the items in the "Specifications" section and Appendix A have adopted corresponding serial numbers, for example, the contents of 4.3.3 and A3.3 are all about the discussion of environmental objectives; the contents of 4.54 and A5.4 It's all about environmental management system audits and so on.
