This standard contains the principles and requirements for the competence, consistency and impartiality of auditing and certification of all types of management systems (such as quality management systems or environmental management systems), as well as the principles and requirements to be followed by organizations providing the above activities. Certification bodies operating in accordance with this standard are not required to provide certification of all types of management systems. Management system certification (referred to as "certification" in this standard) is a third-party conformity assessment activity (see 5.5 of GB/T 27000-2006). The body carrying out this activity is therefore a third-party conformity assessment body (referred to in this standard as a "certification body").
