This standard applies to electric irons for household and similar purposes. The purpose of this standard is to describe and define the essential performance characteristics of electric irons for household and similar purposes of interest to users, and to describe standard methods for testing these characteristics. This standard addresses neither safety nor performance requirements. Note: The primary characteristic considered in the performance evaluation of electric irons is the basic ability to iron fabrics flat without causing them to be scorched or otherwise damaged. A single method is designed to measure this consistently and reproducibly. One characteristic is impossible, therefore, the test of the electric iron includes the examination of these parameters, such as: the temperature of the midpoint of the bottom plate, the temperature distribution of the bottom plate, etc., which can affect its basic characteristics. When evaluating the quality of an electric iron, it is necessary to realize the unforeseen results of any of these parameters that can greatly affect the performance. In the comprehensive consideration of the results, there must be a noteworthy limit in order to give satisfactory results. best ironing performance, i.e. don't get too hung up on small differences in individual results.
