Scope

This part of GB/T 18663 specifies the mechanical test, climate test and safety requirements for cabinets, racks, subracks and enclosures for indoor and outdoor use in accordance with IEC 60917 (metric series) and IEC 60297 (imperial series). It applies only in whole or in part to the mechanical construction of cabinets, racks, subracks, and enclosures, and not to electronic equipment or systems. Tests dedicated to outdoor enclosures are specified in GB/T 19183.5, and some appropriate parts of this section are used in GB/T 19183.5. The purpose of this standard is to ensure the physical integrity of cabinets, racks, subracks and enclosures while taking into account the need for different performance levels in different applications. It attempts to give the user some confidence in choosing a level of performance to meet their specific application requirements as precisely as possible.
