- Scope
- This standard is suitable for comparing the resistance to salt spray corrosion of samples with similar structures. This test is also suitable for assessing the quality and uniformity of protective coatings. When used, the following limitations should be considered: a) This test is not suitable as a general salt spray corrosion test; b) This test is also not suitable for the evaluation of individual samples used in saline atmospheres. For equipment and components, test Kb provides more realistic test conditions and an evaluation method for a single sample. However, if in some cases, in order to ensure quality, the relevant specifications require individual samples to use this test method, the sample should be used as a whole component or part of the equipment together with the actual protective equipment (box, cover, jacket, etc.) test.
