This standard specifies the design, construction and strength requirements for safety devices and equipment required to minimize the risk of persons falling overboard and to facilitate their re-boarding. The devices mentioned in this standard refer to the devices that can be used alone or in combination to achieve the above purposes, and are suitable for small boats with a hull length not greater than 24 m. This standard does not apply to the following types of boats: — toy boats; — canoes, kayaks or other boats with a width of less than 1.1 m; — personal boats covered by IS0 13590; — personal boats covered by IS0 6185 Inflatable boats with a boat length of less than 8 m.
