Scope: This standard specifies the design, construction and strength requirements for safety devices and arrangements to minimize the risk of a person overboard and to facilitate re-boarding of a person overboard. The devices described in this standard are used alone or in combination to achieve the above purpose, and are applicable to small boats with a hull length not greater than 24 m. This standard does not apply to the following types of boats: - toy boats; - canoes, kayaks or other boats with a width of less than 1.1 m; - personal boats included in ISO 13590; m inflatable boats.
