This standard specifies two methods for determining the average fiber diameter of mineral wool and its products. The microscopy method specifies instruments and materials, sample preparation, test procedures, calculations and test results; the air flow method specifies the principles, test instruments, test procedures and test results. Microscopic method is applicable to mineral wool and its products not less than 3μm. Air flow meter method, method A is suitable for rock wool, slag wool and their products from 4.0 μm to 7.6 μm, method 8 is suitable for glass wool from 3.0 μm to 5.5 μm. Microscopy is the referee test method.
