Scope
This standard is one of a series of standards on sampling and testing of paints, varnishes and related products. This standard specifies a method for the determination of volatile organic compound (VOC) content in paints, varnishes and their raw materials, mainly applicable to samples with expected VOC content greater than 0.1% (mass fraction) and less than 15% (mass fraction). When the VOC content is greater than 15% (mass fraction>), the relatively simple method specified in GB/T 23985 can be used to determine its content. This method assumes that the volatile matter is water or organic matter. However, other volatile inorganic compounds may also exist , which may need to be quantified by other suitable methods and taken into account for deduction in calculations.
