This part specifies the test conditions, condition tests and environmental test marks for sand and dust tests. This section applies to optical instruments, instruments incorporating optical components and optical components. The purpose of this test is to study the degree of change of the optical, thermal, mechanical, chemical and electrical properties of the sample due to the influence of sand and dust, especially for the study of moving parts (such as sliding surfaces, bearings, contactors, control devices, gears) Malfunction or impermissible surface wear. This test is not intended to determine abrasion resistance to coarse-grained sand and dust.
