Scope
This part of GB/T 17969 specifies the format and generation rules that enable users to generate 128-bit identifiers, and these 128-bit identifiers are either guaranteed to be globally unique or guaranteed to be highly probable and globally unique. UUIDs generated in compliance with this standard at a rate of generating a new UUID every 100ns are suitable for both temporary use and permanent identifiers. This part is an earlier non-standard specification that originated from UUID and its generation, and is technically equivalent to these earlier specifications. This part of ISO 10000 specifies the operating procedures for Web-based registration authorities for UUIDs. This standard also specifies and allows the use of UUIDs (registered or unregistered) as OID components under the arc {joint-iso-itu-t uuid(25)}. This enables users to generate OIDs without any registration procedures. This standard also specifies and allows the use of UUIDs (registered or unregistered) to form URNs.
