This standard specifies the technical requirements, test methods, marking, packaging, storage and transportation, and sampling of food-grade paraffin. This standard applies to food-grade paraffin waxes obtained from oil-containing waxes, which are degreased by sweating or solvents, and then refined by hydrotreating or white clay. Food paraffin is suitable for waxes that are directly in contact with food and drugs, such as mold release, tablet pressing, and polishing of food and drug components, as well as food additives. Paraffin wax for food packaging is suitable for containers in contact with food, impregnating wax for packaging materials, and wax for sealing and coating of medicines.
