Warning: If proper precautions are not observed, the products covered by this standard may be dangerous during production, storage, transportation and use. This standard does not intend to make recommendations on all safety issues related to this product. It is the user's responsibility to establish appropriate safety and precautionary measures and to determine the applicability of regulatory limitations before using this standard. This standard specifies the terms and definitions, classification and marking, requirements and test methods, inspection regulations and marking, packaging, transportation and storage of unused mineral insulating oil. This standard applies to unused mineral insulating oils with and without additives obtained from petroleum distillates as raw materials and refined for transformers, switches and similar electrical equipment that require oil as an insulating and heat transfer medium. Generator oil can refer to this standard. This standard does not cover mineral insulating oils obtained from recycled oils. This standard does not apply to mineral insulating oils used as impregnating agents in electrical systems or capacitors.
