Scope: This standard specifies the dimensional (linear dimension and angle tolerance) tolerances and shape and position tolerances of welded structures. These tolerances are divided into four grades, which are applicable to ordinary manufacturing precision. The selection of tolerance grades should meet actual needs. The general dimensional tolerances and geometric tolerances specified in this standard are applicable to weldments, welded assemblies and welded structures. Complicated structures can be specially specified as required. These technical requirements given in this standard are based on the independent principle stipulated in GB/T 4249, that is, each size, shape and position requirements are independent and should be met separately. Process documents that only mark linear and angular dimensions or shape descriptions, but do not mark tolerances separately, should be considered incomplete if there is no general tolerance reference description, except for temporary dimensions.
