Scope

This part of GB 12668 specifies the electrical, thermal and energy safety requirements for variable speed electric drive systems or their components. Except for the interface requirements, this section does not cover the driven equipment. This section applies to variable speed electrical drive systems including power conversion equipment, drive control equipment and electric motors. But excluding traction drives and electric vehicle drives, this part applies to DC drive systems connected to AC power supply voltages up to and including 1 kV, 50 Hz or 60 Hz, and converters with input or output voltages below 35 kV, 50 Hz or 60 Hz AC drive system. Other parts of "Adjustable Speed Electric Power Transmission System" involve the regulation of rated value, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and functional safety. If the equipment used as an integral part of the electrical drive system (PDS) complies with the safety requirements of the relevant product standards in the corresponding environment, the scope of this section does not include these equipment. For example, the motor used in the PDS should meet the requirements of the relevant parts of IEC 60034. Unless otherwise specified, the requirements of this section apply to all parts of the PDS, including CDM/BDM (see Figure 1).
