Scope

This part of GB/T 30790 specifies the laboratory test methods and test conditions for evaluating coating systems for corrosion protection of steel structures. The test results can be used as a reference for selecting a suitable coating system and should not be used as accurate information for determining durability. This standard covers protective paint systems for use on uncoated steel, hot-dip galvanized steel and thermally sprayed galvanized steel surfaces. This section does not apply to galvanized steel or protective coating systems for coated steel. Certain tests in this section are not applicable to many waterborne coating systems (see 4.2). However, some waterborne coating systems can be tested and evaluated using the procedures in this standard, and the test results should be taken into account. The environmental types defined in GB/T 30790.2 need to be considered.
