This standard specifies the technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules and various requirements for packaging, labeling, storage and transportation of food additive sodium carboxymethyl cellulose. This standard applies to sodium carboxymethylcellulose made from cellulose, caustic soda and chloroacetic acid or its sodium salt. Its aqueous solution is viscous and is used as a thickener in the food processing industry.
