This standard specifies general information on test methods for color fastness of textiles and serves as a guide for users. It also points out the purpose and scope of each test method, defines some terms, gives the format and outline of each test method, details the content that constitutes each test method chapter, and briefly describes the common operations of most test methods program. Color fastness refers to the resistance of the color of a textile to various factors acting during processing and subsequent use. Evaluate the discoloration of the sample and the staining of the undyed adjacent fabric as the color fastness grade. Other visible changes of the textile material in the test, such as surface effects, i.e. gloss or shrinkage changes, are taken as separate properties and reported in the report. This standard is suitable for evaluating the color fastness of textiles, and can also be used to evaluate the color fastness of dyes. When evaluating the color fastness of dyestuffs, dye the dyestuffs on the textiles to a specified color depth according to the operating procedure, and then test the textiles according to conventional methods. In general, each test method only considers the color fastness to a single factor, and the test procedures related to multiple factors in specific cases are generally different. It can be considered that experience and development in practice will lead to a combination of operating methods suitable for two or more factors. The selected test conditions are consistent with the routine production process and daily use conditions, and these conditions are as simple and reproducible as possible. Since it is impossible for these tests to replicate all processing or use conditions of textiles, the color fastness classes should be stated according to the specific requirements of each user. However, these conditions provide a common basis for testing and reporting color fastness.
