Scope: This International Standard contains requirements for the competence, consistent operation and impartiality of product, process and service certification bodies. Certification bodies operating in accordance with this standard are not required to provide certification for all types of products, processes and services. Product, process and service certification is a third-party conformity assessment activity (5.5 of ISO/IEC 17000:2004). In this standard, the term "product" is also understood to mean "process" or "service", except for those clauses that specifically describe "process" or "service" (see Annex B).
