Diese Internationale Norm legt Laborverfahren fur die Ermittlung des Wasserruckhaltevermogens des Bodens fest. Diese Internationale Norm gilt nur fur Messungen der Trocknungs- oder Desorptionskurve. Vier Verfahren sind beschrieben, damit der gesamte Bereich der Bodenwasserdrucke wie folgt abgedeckt wird: a) Verfahren, bei dem Sand-, Kaolin- oder Keramiksaugtische fur die Ermittlung von Matrixdrucken von 0 kPa bis -50 kPa verwendet werden; b) Verfahren, bei dem eine porose Platte und eine Burettenapparatur fur die Ermittlung von Matrixdrucken von 0 kPa bis -20 kPa verwendet werden; c) Verfahren, bei dem ein Druckgas und Druckplattenextraktor fur die Ermittlung von Matrixdrucken von -5 kPa bis -1500 kPa verwendet werden; d) Verfahren, bei dem ein Druckgas und Druckmembranzellen fur die Ermittlung von Matrixdrucken von -33 kPa bis -1500 kPa verwendet werden. Anleitungen fur die Auswahl des fur den Einzelfall am besten geeigneten Verfahrens sind enthalten.

Diese Internationale Norm legt ein Verfahren fur die gravimetrische Bestimmung des Wassergehalts von Boden als Volumenanteil fest. Dieses Verfahren kann auf alle Arten von nicht-quellschrumpfenden Boden angewendet werden, die mit Stechzylindern beprobt werden konnen. Das Verfahren ist nicht anwendbar bei Boden mit Steinen, starken Wurzeln oder anderen Einflussen, die die Entnahme von Bodenkernen verhindern. Es kann als Referenzverfahren verwendet werden (z. B. fur die Kalibrierung indirekter Verfahren zur Bestimmung des Wassergehalts). ANMERKUNG Die Bestimmung des Wassergehalts als Massenanteil ist in ISO 11465 festgelegt.

Diese Internationale Norm legt ein Laborverfahren fur die simultane Bestimmung der ungesattigten hydraulischen Leitfahigkeit und des Wasserruckhaltevermogens eines Bodens fest. Sie ist nur fur die Ermittlung der Trocknungs- bzw. der Desorptionskurve anwendbar. Die Anwendung ist auf Bodenproben beschrankt, die so weit wie moglich homogen sind. Sie ist nicht anwendbar auf Boden, die innerhalb der folgenden Matrixhohen schrumpfen konnen: hm = 0 cm bis hm = -800 cm. Der Bestimmungsbereich der Leitfahigkeit hangt von der Bodenart ab. Er liegt zwischen Matrixhohen von etwa hm = -50 cm und hm = -700 cm. Der Bestimmungsbereich des Wasserruckhaltevermogens liegt etwa zwischen hm = 0 cm und hm = -800 cm. ANMERKUNG 1 Zur Bestimmung der hydraulischen Leitfahigkeit nahe dem gesattigten Bereich kann ein Infiltrometerverfahren angewendet werden. ANMERKUNG 2 ISO 11274 enthalt Verfahren zur Bestimmung des Wasserruckhaltevermogens bei Matrixhohen zwischen 0 cm und -15000 cm.

3.1 This test method has been designed principally for granular carriers with LHC greater than 5.08201;%. The incremental amount of suitable fluid added can be adjusted down as needed for carriers with LHC less than 5.08201;%. 3.2 This test method has been designed principally for granular carriers with a relatively rapid absorption of liquid. Some materials may absorb liquids more slowly than the described times in the method. If such is the case, the time limit of two (2) min. may be extended. 3.3 This test method is applicable to granules in the range from 4 to 100 mesh (4.75 to 0.150 mm). 1.1 This test method is used to determine the liquid holding capacity (LHC) of granular carriers. 1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. This International Standard specifies a method for the gravimetric determination of soil water content as a volume fraction. The method is applicable to all types of non-swelling or non-shrinking soils where coring sleeves can be used for sampling. It is not applicable to soils where stones, tough roots or other factors prevent collection of soil cores. It is used as a reference method (e.g. the calibration of indirect methods for determination of water content). NOTE The determination of water content as a mass fraction is described in ISO 11465.

This International Standard specifies the determination of the hydraulic conductivity of granular soils (e.g. sand and gravel) using a constant-head method involving a rigid-wall permeameter to measure the laminar flow of water. The procedure establishes representative values of the hydraulic conductivity of granular soils that can occur in natural deposits as placed in embankments, or when used as base courses under pavements. In order to limit consolidation influences during testing, this procedure is applicable only to disturbed granular soils containing not more than 10 % soil passing a 75-μm sieve. This procedure is applicable to the measurement of hydraulic conductivity of compacted samples of sands and gravels containing little or no silt, where flow along the rigid wall of the permeameter has no practical implications on the test results. This International Standard is not applicable to silt and clay, where seepage/flow at the boundaries is not acceptable.

This International Standard specifies an in situ method for the determination of water content in the unsaturated zone of soils using a neutron depth probe. lt is applicable when investigations into the water storage, water balance and water distribution in the unsaturated zone of the soil are carried out. Because the method is non-destructive, it is particularly suitable for repeated measurements at fixed locations. Water content profiles tan be obtained by measuring at a series of depths down to any depth within the range of the phreatic level at the site. The advantage of the method compared with some others, for example the gamma probe method, is the rapidity with which measurements tan be carried out. A disadvantage, however, is the relatively poor depth resolution of the measurements.

This International Standard specifies methods for the determination of pore water pressure in both unsaturated and saturated soil using tensiometers. The methods are applicable for in situ pore water pressure measurements in the field, as well as for monitoring pore water pressure in, for example, plant Containers or soil cores used in experimental procedures. At normal atmospheric pressures, i.e. about 100 kPa, the application of these methods is limited to a range of pressures down to about - 85 kPa. The range is reduced at lower atmospheric pressures. Tensiometers will not function if sub-zero temperatures occur at the measurement depth. Their accuracy is influenced by seil and air temperature fluctuations. Tensiometer response time ranges from a few seconds to several days. To obtain reliable measurements under field conditions, tensiometers require frequent servicing. A tensiometer provides Point measurements of pore water pressure. To measure pore water pressure at different depths, several tensiometers will be necessary. This International Standard specifies laboratory methods for determination of the soil water-retention characteristic. This International Standard applies only to measurements of the drying or desorption curve. Four methods are described to cover the complete range of soil water pressures as follows: a) method using sand, kaolin or ceramic suction tables for determination of matric pressures from 0 kPa to - 50 kPa; b) method using a porous plate and burette apparatus for determination of matric pressures from 0 kPa to - 20 kPa; c) method using a pressurized gas and a pressure plate extractor for determination of matric pressures from - 5 kPa to - 1500 kPa; d) method using a pressurized gas and pressure membrane cells for determination of matric pressures from - 33 kPa to - 1500 kPa. Guidelines are given to select the most suitable method in a particular case.
