1.1 This specification covers zinc-coated steel welded wire reinforcement, plain and deformed, or a combination of deformed and plain wires, for reinforcement of concrete, in sizes not less than 0.080 in. [2.03 mm] and over nominal diameter for plain wire and 0.113 in. [2.87 mm] and over for deformed wire. 1.2 This specification is intended to be applicable to cold-worked wire, drawn or rolled, plain or deformed, coated in a continuous process. 1.3 An alternative to a continuous coating process of wire before fabrication is a hot-dip process, where the welded wire reinforcement is immersed in a bath of molten zinc. Note 18212;Data on the corrosion resistance of galvanized steels in concrete are limited. The user is cautioned that the laboratory testing performed on this material has been insufficient and may not accurately reflect the performance of the material when embedded in concrete as reinforcement. 1.4 The values stated in either inch-pound or SI units are to be regarded as standard. Within the text, the SI units are shown in brackets. The values stated in each system are not exact equivalents; therefore, each system must be used independently of the other. Combining values may result in nonconformance with the specification. 1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

1.1 This specification covers two types and two grades of 2- and 3-wire, uncoated steel strand for use in pretensioned and posttensioned prestressed concrete construction. The two types of strand are low-relaxation and stress-relieved (normal-relaxation). Low-relaxation shall be regarded as the standard type. Stress-relieved (normal-relaxation) strand will not be furnished unless specifically ordered, or by arrangement between purchaser and supplier. The two grades are 1725 (250) and 1860 (270). Grades 250 and 270 have minimum tensile strengths of 1725 MPa (250 ksi) and 1860 MPa (270 ksi) respectively, based on the nominal area of the strand. 1.2 The values stated in either inch-pound units or SI units are to be regarded as the standard. Within the text, the inch-pound units are shown in parentheses. The values stated in each system are not exact equivalents; therefore, each system must be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in nonconformance with the specification.

1.1 This specification covers uncoated, high-strength, hard-drawn steel wire for use in the construction of prestressed concrete tanks and similar structures. In application, the wire is continuously wrapped on the structure maintaining tension by a device using a wire drawing die, or mechanical tensioning system without re-drawing. 1.2 This specification is applicable only to the condition of the wire as delivered to the purchaser. It is not applicable to the properties or condition of the wire after application. 1.2.1 Type A wire is to be tensioned by drawing through a wire drawing die or by a mechanical system without re-drawing. 1.2.2 Type B wire is drawn to finished size by the manufacturer for tensioning by a mechanical system without re-drawing. Note 18212;Type A wire, when tensioned by drawing through a die, may not function properly if the purchaser does not ensure that during application the surface of the wire is free of rust and foreign materials that can be detrimental to good wire drawing practice. Further, the purchaser should ensure that proper wire drawing techniques are followed, including adequate lubrication, cooling, and proper die mechanics. 1.3 This specification is applicable for orders in either inch-pounds units (as Specification A821) or in SI units (as Specification A821M). 1.4 The values stated in either inch-pound units or SI units are to be regarded separately as standard. Within the text, the SI units are shown in brackets. The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in non-conformance with the standard.

1.1 This specification covers plain and deformed steel wire and plain and deformed steel welded wire reinforcement with protective vinyl (polyvinyl chloride, or polyvinyl chloride powder compound) coating. A Class A minimum coating thickness is required for wire and welded wire reinforcement intended for use in concrete and masonry. A Class B minimum coating thickness is required for wire and welded wire reinforcement intended for use in mechanically stabilized earth applications. 1.2 Other thermoplastic organic coatings may be used provided they meet the requirements of this specification. Note 18212;The coating applicator is identified throughout this specification as the manufacturer. 1.3 Requirements for coatings are contained in Annex A1. 1.4 Requirements for patching materials are contained in Annex A2. 1.5 The text of this specification contains notes or footnotes, or both, that provide explanatory material. Such notes and footnotes, excluding those in tables or figures, do not contain any mandatory requirements. 1.6 This specification is applicable for orders in either inch-pound units (as Specification A933) or in SI units [as Specification A933M]. 1.7 The values stated in either inch-pound units or SI units are to be regarded separately as standard. Within the text, the SI units are shown in brackets. The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in non-conformance with the standard.

This document specifies the technical delivery requirements for the following steel products intended for use in the construction industry: bars (including hammer-forged bars); wide flats; hot-rolled strip and sheet/plate; forgings. They are manufactured from the direct hardening non alloy steels for quenching and tempering and the direct hardening alloy steels for quenching and tempering and supplied in one of the heat treatment conditions given for the different types of products in Table 1. These steels are generally intended for the manufacture of quenched and tempered parts, but can also be used in the normalized condition. The requirements for mechanical properties are restricted to part sizes given in Tables 4 and 5. NOTE 1 In accordance with EN 10020, the steels covered by this standard are quality and special steels. The differences between quality and special steels are characterized by the following requirements, which are valid for special steels only: -- the minimum impact values in the quenched and tempered condition (for non alloy special steels in the case of mean percentages by mass of carbon < 0,50 % only); -- limited oxide inclusion content; -- lower maximum contents for phosphorus and sulphur. NOTE 2 This standard does not apply for bright steel products. NOTE 3 This standard only applies for the manufacture of products without any further cold or hot forming and no additional heat treatment, i.e. the properties are according to the delivery condition (+N, +QT). In addition to the specifications of this European Standard, the general technical delivery conditions given in EN 10021 will be applicable unless otherwise specified.

This part of ISO 15835 specifies requirements for reinforcement couplers, hereafter called couplers, to be used for splicing of steel reinforcing bars. This part of ISO 15835 specifies requirements for couplers to be used for mechanical splices in reinforced concrete structures under predominantly static loads and additional requirements for couplers to be used in structures subject to high cycle elastic fatigue loading and/or to low cycle elastic-plastic reverse loading. This part of ISO 15835 is intended to be applicable in relation to the various reinforced concrete design standards as well as in relation to the various standards for steel reinforcing bars. This part of ISO 15835 also provides directions for the evaluation of conformity of couplers. Compression-only couplers such as end-bearing sleeves are not covered by this part of ISO 15835.
