1.1 This specification covers uncoated stress-relieved steel bars for use in prestressed concrete railroad ties.1.2 Supplement I describes low-relaxation bars and relaxation testing for that product. Low-relaxation bars shall be furnished when specifically ordered, and may be furnished in place of regular bars if mutually agreed to by the purchaser and manufacturer.1.3 This specification is applicable for orders in either inch-pounds units (as Specification A 911) or in SI units (as Specification A 911M).1.4 The values stated in either inch-pound units or SI units are to be regarded separately as standards. Within the text, the SI units are shown in brackets. The values stated in each system are not exact equivalents; therefore, each system must be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in nonconformance with the specification.

1.1 This specification covers rail-steel and axle-steel bars for concrete reinforcement. Three types of product are included, designated with a "rail symbol," and an "R" for bars made of rail-steel and with an "A" for bars made of axle-steel. The standard sizes and dimensions of deformed bars and their number designations are given in . All sizes and grades of all types may not be readily available; manufacturers should be consulted to verify availability. 1.2 The text of this specification references notes and footnotes that provide explanatory material. These notes and footnotes, excluding those in tables and figures, shall not be considered as requirements of the specification.1.3 Type "rail symbol" and Type R are of two minimum yield levels, namely 50 000 psi [350 MPa] and 60 000 psi [420 MPa] designated as Grade 50 [350] and Grade 60 [420], respectively. Type A is of two minimum yield levels, namely 40 000 psi [280 MPa] and 60 000 psi [420 MPa] designated as Grade 40 [280] and Grade 60 [420], respectively.1.4 The weldability of the steel is not a requirement of this specification.1.5 This specification is applicable for orders in either inch-pound units (Specification A 996) or SI units (Specification A 996M). 1.6 The values stated in either inch-pound units or SI units are to be regarded as standard. Within the text, the SI units are shown in brackets. The values stated must be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in nonconformance with the specification. This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

1.1 This specification covers uncoated high-strength steel bars intended for use in pretensioned and post-tensioned prestressed concrete construction or in prestressed ground anchors. Bars are of a minimum ultimate tensile strength level of 1035 MPa (150 000 psi).1.2 Two types of bars are provided: Type I bar has a plain surface and Type II bar has surface deformations.1.3 Supplementary requirements of an optional nature are provided. They shall apply only when specified by the purchaser.1.4 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only.

1.1 This specification covers uncoated, high-strength, hard-drawn steel wire for use in the manufacture of prestressed concrete tanks and similar structures. In application, the wire is continuously wrapped on the structure maintaining tension by a device employing a wire drawing die, or mechanical tensioning system without redrawing. 1.2 This specification is applicable only to the condition of the wire as delivered to the user. It is not applicable to the properties or condition of the wire after application. 1.2.1 Type A wire is to be tensioned by drawing through a wire drawing die or by a mechanical system without redrawing. 1.2.2 Type B wire is drawn to finished size by the manufacturer for tensioning by a mechanical system without redrawing. Note 1Type A wire, when tensioned by drawing through a die, may not function properly if the user does not ensure that during application the surface of the wire is free of rust and foreign materials that can be detrimental to good wire drawing practice. Further, the user should ensure that proper wire drawing techniques are followed, including adequate lubrication, cooling, and proper die mechanics. 1.3 The values stated in either inch-pound or SI units are to be regarded as the standard. Within the text, the inch-pound units are shown in parentheses. The values stated in each system are not exact equivalents; therefore, each system must be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in nonconformance with the specification.

This test method provides a means for assessing corrosion-inhibiting concrete admixtures. This test method is useful for development of admixtures intended to reduce corrosion of reinforcing steel in concrete. This test method is useful in determining the corrosivity of admixtures toward steel reinforcing if the admixture sample is compared to a control without admixtures. Good performance, a reduction in corrosion rate versus chloride alone by at least one order of magnitude in this test, is a strong indication that an admixture is a corrosion inhibitor. However, poor performance requires additional testing to determine if the admixture improves corrosion resistance. This method is a screening test and shall not be used to predict performance in the field. However, it is useful to determine which admixtures shall be included into long-term evaluation programs. The filtering process makes this test not suitable for the evaluation of emulsions.1.1 This test method describes a procedure for determining the effects of chemical admixtures on the corrosion of metals in concrete. This test method can be used to evaluate materials intended to inhibit chloride-induced corrosion of steel in concrete. It can also be used to evaluate the corrosivity of admixtures by themselves or in a chloride environment. This test is not applicable for emulsions.1.2 Units8212;The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

1.1 This specification covers two classes of uncoated, high-strength, hard-drawn steel wire for use in the manufacture of prestressed concrete pipe. In application, the wire is helically wrapped on the pipe maintaining tension by mechanical means not including drawing dies. 1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are provided for information only.1.3 The following caveat pertains only to the test method portions of this specification, 6.2.3 and 6.4.3: This standard does not purport to address the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
