This document specifies product definitions, product characteristics (i.e. tolerances, flatness, edgework), fracture characteristics, including fragmentation, and the physical and mechanical characteristics of flat heat strengthened soda lime silicate glass for use in buildings. This document does not cover surface finished glasses (e.g. sandblasted, acid etched) after heat strengthening. This document does not cover curved (bent) glass. Other requirements, not specified in this document, can apply to heat strengthened soda lime silicate glass which is incorporated into assemblies (e.g. laminated glass or insulating glass units), or undergoes an additional treatment (e.g. coating). The additional requirements are specified in the appropriate glass product standard. Heat strengthened soda lime silicate glass, in this case, does not lose its mechanical or thermal characteristics.

1.1 This test method covers qualitative determination of the acid resistance of the ceramic decoration on architectural glass. 1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard. 1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. 1.4 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

1.1 This specification covers the requirements for chemically strengthened glass products that are used in general building construction, transportation, solar, and other electronic applications, such as PC screens, notebooks, tablets, smart phones, and E-readers, as well as copy machine scanners, computer disks, and flat glass screens for television monitors. The technique covered in this specification usually involves conducting ion exchange of constituent alkali ions in a glass product by immersing it in a bath of molten salt containing larger alkali ions. Penetration of the larger ions into smaller host sites produces a layer of compression on the surface which strengthens the glass. Techniques such as ion implantation, dealkalization, etch-strengthening, and glaze coatings are specifically excluded from this specification. 1.2 Classification of chemically strengthened glass products is based on the laboratory measurements of surface compression and case depth (depth of compression) and not on the modulus of rupture (MOR). This specification does not purport to address end-use performance. 1.3 A test method for the measurement of case depth and surface compression is included in Section 8. Another test method for similar measurement using optically guided-wave equipment is included in Section 9. 1.4 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in each system are not necessarily exact equivalents; therefore, to ensure conformance with the standard, each system shall be used independently of the other, and values from the two systems shall not be combined. 1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. 1.6 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

1.1 This practice covers a procedure to determine the resistance of annealed architectural flat glass to thermally induced stresses caused by exposure to sun and shadows for a specified probability of breakage (Pb). Proper use of this procedure is intended to reduce the possibility of thermal breakage of annealed glass in buildings. 1.2 This practice applies to vertical or sloped glazing in buildings. 1.3 This practice applies to monolithic and laminated glass of rectangular shape and assumes that all glass edges are simply supported. 1.4 This practice applies only to annealed flat soda-lime silica glass with clean cut, seamed, flat ground, or ground and polished edges that are free from damage. The glass may be clear or tinted as well as coated (not including coatings that reduce emissivity of the glass). 1.5 This practice does not apply to any form of wired, patterned, etched, sandblasted, drilled, notched, or grooved glass or glass with surface and edge treatments, other than those described in 1.4, that alter the glass strength. 1.6 This practice does not address uniform loads such as wind and snow loads, safety requirements, fire, or impact resistance. 1.7 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses after SI units are provided for information only and are not considered standard. For conversion of quantities in various systems of measurements to SI units, refer to IEEE/ASTM SI-10. 1.8 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. 1.9 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

1.1 This specification is applicable to all electrochromic (EC) glass whose visible light transmittance or near infrared light transmittance properties, or both, can be changed reversibly by the application or removal of an electrical voltage. This includes absorptive and reflective EC devices. 1.2 This specification does not apply to other types of dynamic glass which do not solely require an electrical stimulus to change light transmittance such as photochromic and thermochromic glazings and hybrid active/passive chromogenics. 1.3 This specification covers electrochromic devices in preassembled permanently sealed insulting glass units with one or more cavities in which at least one lite contains an EC device (which may be in the form of a laminated lite or a single pane with coatings applied). This specification is also applicable to EC devices in preassembled insulating glass units with capillary tubes intentionally left open. As such this specification also requires conformance to Specification E2190. 1.4 This specification is applicable only to sealed insulating glass units that are constructed with glass and fabricated for vision glass areas for use in buildings, such as sliding doors, windows, skylights, and exterior wall systems. 1.5 Qualification under this specification is intended to provide a basis for evaluating the aging performance of electrochromic devices in sealed insulating glass units. 1.6 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard. 1.7 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. 1.8 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

What is ISO 16936 ‑ 1 about?    ISO 16936 ‑ 1 is the first part of a multi-series of documents on forced-entry security glazing.   ISO 16936 ‑ 1 specifies requirements and a test method for security glazing designed to resist the impacts of a hard body by delaying access of objects and/or persons to a protected space for a short period of time. It also classifies security-glazing products into categories of resistance to repetitive impacts of a steel sphere.   In

1.1 The existing condition of SSG installations should be periodically evaluated in-situ to detect if problems exist, and if so found, to address them before they become severe or pervasive. Evaluation of existing SSG installations is required by certain building codes and local ordinances. This guide provides a program to evaluate the existing conditions, lists typical conditions that may exist, and suggests times when such evaluations are appropriate. Presently, only a silicone sealant that is specifically formulated, tested and marketed as a structural glazing sealant is allowed for structural sealant glazing. The committee with jurisdiction over this standard is not aware of any comparable standards published by any other organizations. 1.2 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
