This European Standard specifies the material, dimensional and performance requirements for factory made concrete outer wall elements for chimneys including fittings. The standard covers elements having up to four passages designated to accommodate a combination of flue liners and or air ducts. This European Standard also relates to storey-height and reinforced outer wall elements. NOTE 1 Classes in this standard are not derived from conditions referred to in article 3.2 of Directive 89/106/EC and should only be considered as technical classes in the sense of Commission Guidance Paper E "Levels and classes in the Construction Products Directive". NOTE 2 Any reference to the term 'outer wall element' implies both the outer wall elements and their fittings, except where otherwise indicated.

This standard specifies general requirements and testing methods for steps manufactured from cast iron, steel or aluminium, for use in manholes and other underground man entry chambers as a means of access. This standard specifies performance criteria for mechanical stability and resistance providing protection against falling. Corresponding test methods and evaluation of conformity are included. The steps specified in this European Standard are suitable for use in sewage, surface water and, subject to the requirements of national regulations, potable water environments. Where steps are to be used in particular corrosive environments, e.g. industrial effluents, additional protection may be required. This standard does not apply for steps moulded in prefabricated manholes of the same material.

The standard is part of a new series of standards for actions on structures which are developed on the basis of related European Standards and which are suposed to replace or complete the existing series DIN 1055. This standard is in particular derived from DIN V ENV 1991-2-5, which are exposed to dayly and seasonal diveations of temperature. It includes terminals used on domestic and industrial chimneys which are not structurally independent (free standing). This standard specifies the performance requirements for factory made terminals.
