This test method is intended to provide a means of evaluating the comparative color strength and dispersibility of alkali blue dry pigment or flushed color in hot melt carbon paper inks.1.1 This test method provides a procedure to determine the color strength of dry or flushed alkali blue pigment in hot melt carbon copy paper ink compared to an alkali blue control mutually agreed upon by the purchaser and supplier.1.2 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. Specific warning statements are given in 9.1 and 9.2.1.
Standard Test Method for Assessing the Color Strength and Dispersibility of Alkali Blue Pigment in Hot Melt Carbon Copy Paper Ink
The character yield of a ribbon is affected by many factors including the printer/typewriter design and ribbon cartridge design. The end user may wish to evaluate these different machine and ribbon designs to determine the estimated cost of various systems over the anticipated useful life of the equipment. For example, the lowest cost machine may not be the most economical system when the cost per character (cost of supplies) is factored in as part of its total life time cost.1.1 This practice covers the description and method of use of a test pattern for evaluating character yield of a single-pass typewriter or printer ribbon cartridge under continuous printing conditions. 1.2 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

This test method will provide a standard for comparison of wind vanes of different types. Specifications by regulatory agencies and industrial societies (3-5) have stipulated performance values. This test method provides an unambiguous method for measuring starting threshold, delay distance, and overshoot ratio.1.1 This test method covers the determination of the starting threshold, delay distance, and overshoot ratio of a wind vane from direct measurements in a wind tunnel. This test method is applicable only to wind vanes having measurable overshoot.1.2 This test method provides for determination of the performance of a system consisting of a wind vane and its associated position-to-output transducer in wind tunnel flow. Use of values determined by this test method to describe performance in atmospheric flow of a wind direction measuring system incorporating the vane must be done with an understanding of the differences between the two systems and the two environments.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

This classification contains pairs of scales for classifying an aspect of the serviceability of an office facility, that is, the capability of an office facility to meet certain possible requirements for image to the public and occupants. Within that aspect of serviceability, each pair of scales, shown in Figs. 1 through 7, are for classifying one topic of serviceability. Each paragraph in an Occupant Requirement Scale (see Figs. 1 through 7) summarizes one level of serviceability on that topic, which occupants might require. The matching entry in the Facility Rating Scale (see Figs. 1 through 7) is a translation of the requirement into a description of certain features of a facility which, taken in combination, indicate that the facility is likely to meet that level of required serviceability. The entries in the Facility Rating Scale (see Figs. 1 through 7) are indicative and not comprehensive. They are for quick scanning to estimate approximately, quickly, and economically, how well an office facility is likely to meet the needs of one or another type of occupant group over time. The entries are not for measuring, knowing, or evaluating how an office facility is performing. This classification can be used to estimate the level of serviceability of an existing facility. It can also be used to estimate the serviceability of a facility that has been planned but not yet built, such as one for which single-line drawings and outline specifications have been prepared. This classification indicates what would cause a facility to be rated at a certain level of serviceability but does not state how to conduct a serviceability rating nor how to assign a serviceability score. That information is found in Practice E 1334. The scales in this classification are complimentary to and compatible with Practice E 1334. Each requires the other.

Abrasion and smudge resistance during handling, transport, and storage is essential to prevent the marring or smudging of images produced from business imaging products. Recognizing that the actual amount of abrasion/smudge occurring depends on relative humidity, temperature, and a host of other variables, this practice provides a means for comparing the abrasion and smudge resistance of images produced from business imaging products under laboratory conditions. This practice may be used to determine the abrasion and smudge resistance of images produced from business imaging products such as typewriters, copiers, impact printers, and nonimpact printers. This practice may also be used to evaluate the relative abrasion and smudge resistance of various ribbons, inks, and toners. This practice may be used for control of product quality, comparative analysis of machines, or as a research and development tool.1.1 This practice covers the procedure for determining the abrasion and smudge resistance of images produced from office products using a GA-CAT comprehensive abrasion tester. 1.2 This practice is applicable to images produced from business imaging products such as typewriters, copiers, impact printers, and non-impact printers. 1.3 Other test methods using the Crockmeter, Sutherland rub tester, and Taber Abrader can be employed to evaluate smudge and abrasion characteristics. The results obtained by these units are not necessarily equivalent to those obtained with the GA-CAT. 1.4 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only. 1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
