1.1 This specification covers minimum requirements for cellulose fibers intended for use in fiber-reinforced concrete, and other cementitious products. 1.2 This specification provides for measurement of properties, definition of types, typical properties, and prescribes testing procedures to establish conformance to these requirements. 1.3 In the case of conflict between a more stringent requirement of a product specification and a requirement of this specification, the product specification shall prevail. In the case of a conflict between a requirement of the product specification or a requirement of this specification and a more stringent requirement of the purchase order, the purchase order shall prevail. The purchase order requirements shall not take precedence if they, in any way, violate the requirements of the product specification or this specification; for example, by the waiving of a test requirement or by making a test requirement less stringent. 1.4 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in non-conformance with the standard. 1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

This European Standard applies to fibre-cement slates with a height dimension h (see Clause 4) not exceeding 850 mm for overlapping assembly. For the purpose of this European Standard, fibre-cement slates have been classified according to their bending moment. This European Standard covers fibre-cement slates reinforced with fibres of different types as specified in 5.1.1. This European Standard does not include calculations with regard to works, design requirements, installation techniques, wind uplift or rain proofing of the installed products.

This International Standard establishes rules for batching, sampling and inspection of fibre-reinforced cement products. These rules apply to all acceptance tests. In certain cases they may also apply to type tests but the sampling scheme for type tests will usually be specified in the product standards. These rules form a uniform method for determining whether consignments of fibre-reinforced cement products can be considered as conforming to relevant product standards. This International Standard also gives guidelines for internal sampling and inspection of finished products from a continuous production process, allowing the relaxation of the rules concerning acceptance or rejection of inspection lots providing that the appropriate conditions have been fulfilled. The quality system of the factory is outside of the scope of this International Standard.1) The sampling schemes are based on ISO 2859-1, ISO 3951, ISO 8422 and ISO 8423 with an AQL of 4 % and inspection level S3.2) According to the results obtained on previous batches, either a reduced or a tightened control is applied in accordance with these Standards. The methods of switching rules (normal, tightened or reduced inspection) are given in extracts of those Standards reproduced in annexes A and B.

This International Standard specifies the characteristics of compressed cement-bonded particleboards and establishes the test methods for determination and control of the specified values. These products are suitable for all internal applications, such as partitions, ceilings, etc. For boards intended for applications exposed to the weather or moisture, special requirements apply (see 5.3).

This International Standard specifies technical requirements and methods for the inspection and testing of fibre-cement slates and shingles and their fibre-cement fittings, designed to protect the weather-exposed surfaces on roofs and claddings of buildings. Products covered by this International Standard can be used for other purposes provided they comply with the appropriate national or international application code or standard. This International Standard applies to fibre-cement slates with a height dimension not exceeding 850 mm for overlapping assembly (see 5.4). The type tests described in this International Standard are not intended to evaluate the performance of the coating in isolation (colour fastness, adhesion, etc.). Specific performance requirements for coatings are referenced in other ISO or national standards. This International Standard does not apply to fibre-cement slates reinforced with asbestos fibres. This International Standard does not include calculations for installation requirements, wind uplift or rain proofing of the installed products. NOTE National standards for installation requirements can be adopted.

For the purpose of this European Standard, fibre-cement profiled sheets are classified according to their height of corrugation and their mechanical characteristics. This European Standard covers fibre-cement profiled sheets reinforced with fibres of different type as specified in 5., with and without factory applied coating. This European Standard does not include calculations with regard to works, design requirements, installation techniques, wind uplift or rain proofing of the installed sheets. NOTE Some of these requirements can be applied, after agreement, to curved sheets for specific applications.
