SAE J2534-1 defines a standard vehicle network interface that can be used to reprogram emission related control modules. However, there is a need to support vehicles prior to the 2004 model year as well as non-emission related control modules. The SAE J 2534-2 document meets these needs by detailing extensions to an SAE J 2534-1 interface. It is not required for an interface to be fully compliant with SAE J2534-1 specification to implement some of the features specified in this document. Together, these extensions provide the framework for a common interface to protect the software investment of the Vehicle OEMs and Scan Tool manufacturers. Only the optional features will be described by this document and are based on the December 2004 publication of SAE J 2534-1.

This part of ISO 24534 provides requirements for electronic registration identification (ERI) that are based on an identifier assigned to a vehicle (e.g. for recognition by national authorities), suitable to be used for: - electronic identification of local and foreign vehicles by national authorities; - vehicle manufacturing, in-life maintenance and end-of-life identification (vehicle life cycle management); - adaptation of vehicle data (e.g. for international resales); - safety-related purposes; - crime reduction; - commercial services. It adheres to privacy and data protection regulations. This part of ISO 24534 provides an overview of the ERI system concept, in terms of the onboard vehicle components and the external off-vehicle components required for an operational system. The detailed requirements are defined in Parts 2, 3, 4 and 5 of ISO 24534 and more limited, though relevant, provisions are defined in ISO 24535.

This Recommended Practice (RP) document applies to Heavy Vehicle Event Data Recorders (HVEDR) for heavy-duty (HD) ground wheeled vehicles over 4545 kg (10 000 US pounds), commonly referred to as Class 3-8, which are intended to be compliant with current Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) and/or Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR). In the context of the J2728 RP, the term heavy vehicle refers to motor vehicles equipped with one or both of the following vehicle communication networks: SAE J1708/J1587 or SAE J1939. This document is focused primarily on wheeled vehicles with standard on-board power supplies (e.g.,batteries). It is intended to address the needs of OEM original, OEM modified/additive, and aftermarket systems. It does not specifically exclude trailers and similar nonengine powered vehicles, even though the current lack of standardized methodologies and processes for inter-vehicular communication and power supply interconnections remain unresolved. This document provides design and performance recommendations needed to develop a "Tier 1" (i.e., minimum capabilities) HVEDR. It is not intended to prevent, constrain, or limit additional capabilities which could be combined or contained in any current or future Tier 1 HVEDR as long as the minimum design and performance capabilities described herein are maintained. Subsequent documents are envisioned, which may significantly expand on recommended capabilities. These devices will be referred to as "Tier 2" and "Tier 3" devices.

This part of ISO 10681 defines common requirements for vehicle systems implemented on a FlexRay communication link, as specified in the FlexRay Communications Systems Protocol Specification. It also describes general use cases and communication scenarios that are covered by FlexRay transport and network layer. Each use case drives specific communication capabilities and requirements of the vehicle communication interface.

This part of ISO 10681 specifies the requirements for a communication protocol tailored to meet the requirements of FlexRay-based vehicle network systems as specified in the FlexRay Communications Systems Protocol Specification. As the communication protocol combines the network layer and transport layer functionality (OSI layers 3 and 4), this part of ISO 10681 does not explicitly distinguish between these layer services.

This SAE Recommended Practice defines the performance requirements, size and mating interfaces for M12 style 4 and 5 pole Heavy Duty High Speed Datalink connection systems, and applies to both cable-to-cable and cable-to-device connectors. High Speed Datalink connection systems, typically those operating at speeds that are greater than 10M bps, have been developed for commercial applications without regard to their potential application on heavy-duty vehicles or off-highway machines. This recommended practice is intended to be the standard for the heavy-duty connector mating interface and environmental performance requirements for High Speed Datalink connection systems. This standardization will assure mating compatibility of data link connectors from multiple connector suppliers while meeting industry performance requirements for heavy-duty applications.

This document defines a level of standardization in the implementation of the digital pulse scheme for reporting sensor information via Single Edge Nibble Transmission (SENT) encoding. This standard will allow ECU and tool manufacturers to satisfy the needs of multiple end users with minimum modifications to the basic design. This standard will benefit vehicle Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) by achieving lower ECU costs due to higher industry volumes of the basic design. Requirements stated in this document provide a minimum standard level of performance to which all compatible ECUs and media shall be designed. This assures data communication among all connected devices regardless of supplier. The intended audience includes, but is not limited to, ECU suppliers, sensor suppliers, component release engineers and vehicle system engineers.

This document covers the requirements for SAE implementations based on LIN 2.0. Requirements stated in this document will provide a minimum standard level of performance to which all compatible systems, design and development tools, software, ECUs and media shall be designed. This will assure consistent and unambiguous serial data communication among all connected devices regardless of supplier. This document may be referenced by any vehicle OEM component technical specification that describes any given ECU in which the single wire data link controller and physical layer interface is located. The intended audience includes, but is not limited to, ECU suppliers, LIN controller suppliers, LIN transceiver suppliers, component release engineers and vehicle system engineers. The goal of SAE J2602 is to improve the interoperability and interchangeability of LIN devices within a network by resolving those LIN 2.0 requirements that are ambiguous, conflicting, or optional. Moreover, SAE J2602 provides additional requirements that are not present in LIN 2.0 (e.g., fault tolerant operation, network topology, etc.).

This SAE Recommended Practice defines a procedure for the use of computer generated saturation curves to determine peening intensity. Calculation of intensity within a tolerance band for each data set in Table 1 one is required for compliance with this practice. Manually constructed saturation curves are difficult to generate and are subjective. The use of computer algorithms will provide a consistent treatment of data and also allow a convenient method to archive the data. This Practice includes examples of computer algorithms. It is the users responsibility to develop a suitable computer algorithm which generates data within the tolerance bands of Table 1.

This SAE Standard specifies a message set, and its data frames and data elements specifically for use by applications intended to utilize the 5.9 GHz Dedicated Short Range Communications for Wireless Access in Vehicular Environments (DSRC/WAVE, referenced in this document simply as "DSRC"), communications systems. Although the scope of this Standard is focused on DSRC, this message set, and its data frames and data elements have been designed, to the extent possible, to also be of potential use for applications that may be deployed in conjunction with other wireless communications technologies. This Standard therefore specifies the definitive message structure and provides sufficient background information to allow readers to properly interpret the message definitions from the point of view of an application developer implementing the messages according to the DSRC Standards.
