- This standard covers the treatment of backwash wastewater from filter backwashing as part of water treatment in swimming pools and baths.*) See, for example, the DIN 19643 series for suitable treatment systems. O The standard specifies conditions and criteria relating to the wastewater treatment to ensure that no harmful effects result from treated backwash water. The treated water may be categorized in terms of its further use as follows: -- type 1 water: for use as filling water, filter backwash water and water as used for type 2 and type 3 applications; -- type 2 water: for use for cleaning surfaces, flushing toilets and irrigation; -- type 3 water: for direct discharge into watercourses.
